Track money you lent

Record money you lent to someone as Lending, take it out of a wallet if you lend it now, and log each repayment until the card reads Settled.

Works on iPhone, iPad, Android, Mac and the webUpdated

Money you lent is tracked as Lending: a card with the person's name that shows how much they still owe you. It counts as an asset in your net worth. You record each repayment as it arrives, and the card reads Settled when nothing is left.

Add money you lent

  1. Open the Money tab and tap + at the top right. In the sheet Track something new, tap Lending.
  2. Type the Person, such as "Ana".
  3. Optional: tap Icon and color.
  4. Enter the Amount lent. It must be above 0.
  5. Check the Currency. It starts as your main currency and cannot be changed afterwards. Only regular currencies are offered, no coins.
  6. Decide whether the money is leaving a wallet now:
    • Money lent earlier: leave I’m lending this now from a wallet off. The card opens with the amount and no wallet changes.
    • Lending it today: turn the switch on and pick the wallet under Money came from. The amount comes out of that wallet as a transfer, so your net worth stays the same: one asset becomes another.
  7. Tap Add.

If you have no lending yet, Lending also appears as a chip under Track more at the bottom of the Money tab.

Record a repayment

  1. On the Money tab, find the person under Lending and tap Repay.
  2. The form is titled Record repayment. The lending card is the From side. Pick the spending wallet the money arrives To.
  3. Enter the amount and save.

Each repayment is a transfer into your wallet. It is not income, so it does not count as earnings. Partial repayments are fine. The card shows a line such as "owes you · €40.00 repaid so far" and its figure goes down. When the balance reaches 0, the card reads Settled.

Change or remove it

  • Tap ⋯ (More) on the card, then Edit lending to change the person's name or the amount lent.
  • To write off what is left, open the person's register, tap Update balance and enter 0 under Amount you’re owed now. The card then reads Settled. See update a balance that does not match.
  • Swipe a settled card to the left to archive it, or tap Remove at the foot of the edit screen. Archiving takes it out of your net worth. See archive a wallet you no longer use.
