About Tavala

Tavala is a private, offline-first personal finance app for people whose money crosses currencies. It is made by Tavala LLC, a small company in Wyoming, and built by one developer.

Who makes it

Dejan Bogatinovski
Dejan Bogatinovski, founder of Tavala LLC

Dejan Bogatinovski founded Tavala LLC and builds the app: the iPhone, iPad, Android, Mac and web versions from one codebase, the money engine that keeps every amount exact in its currency's smallest unit, the exchange-rate engine that stores the rate of the day on each entry, the debt payoff engine behind the snowball and avalanche plans, and the offline sync that lets every screen work without a connection. The name is Tavala, with an a. It is a personal finance app, not Tovala, the smart oven.

Why it works offline, and why it starts without an account

Many budgeting apps begin by asking for your bank login and an email address, and stop working when the signal does. Tavala begins with a text field: type "coffee 4.80" and it is logged, in any currency, on the device in your hand. An account is something you add later, when you want a backup or a second device, and a bank connection is an optional add-on for banks in the United States and Canada, never a requirement.

That order is deliberate. Money that crosses borders rarely sits in one bank that one aggregator can read, and a lot of it is cash. A tracker that only works through a bank connection leaves those people out, and one that only works online fails exactly when you are travelling.

Where your data lives

Without an account, your entries exist only on your device and are never sent to us. With an account, they sync through a database hosted in Ireland, in the EU. Ask Tavala, the AI assistant, is off until you turn it on, and the AI model never sees an amount. The privacy policy lists every service that receives anything and what it receives.

How Tavala makes money

  • Tavala Plus$39.99 a year

Or $6.99 a month. Every device synced, every currency, and spaces shared with up to six people.

  • Group pass$4.99 once

One space open to six people for sixty days, with no subscription.

  • Bank connection add-on$39.99 a year per bank

Or $3.99 a month, on top of Plus. United States and Canada, read-only, and charged only after the bank connects.

And nothing else. No ads, no analytics SDK, and your data is never sold or shared with advertisers.

How we write

The help center, and the guides and comparisons this site will publish, follow the same rules:

  • Every piece starts from a written brief, and the first draft may be written with an AI model. Dejan Bogatinovski checks every fact against the app or the cited source and edits the piece before it is published.
  • Sources are linked where a claim is made, and every price carries the date it was checked.
  • Comparisons measure what can be measured (price, platforms, currencies, offline use, bank connection countries) and say where another app is the better choice, including where Tavala falls short.
  • No sponsored posts, no paid placements and no affiliate links.
  • If something is wrong, write to support@tavala.io. We correct it and change the page's updated date.
