Cancel Tavala Plus

Cancel in the place that bills you - Apple, Google Play or the browser. Plus keeps working to the end of the period you paid for, and nothing is deleted.

Works on iPhone, iPad, Android, Mac and the webNeeds Tavala PlusUpdated

You cancel Tavala Plus where it is billed, not inside Tavala's own screens. The plan card in Settings names the place, and Manage on that card takes you there. Cancelling stops the next renewal. Plus keeps working until the end of the period you already paid for.

Cancel Plus

  1. Open Settings. On a phone, tap the round person icon at the top right. On an iPad or a Mac, tap or click Settings at the foot of the rail or the sidebar.
  2. On the Tavala Plus card, read the first line. It says Billed through the App Store, Billed through Google Play or Billed on tavala.io.
  3. Tap Manage and cancel where that line points:
    • Billed through the App Store. Manage opens your Apple subscriptions page. On an iPhone or iPad you can also open the device's Settings, tap your name, tap Subscriptions, choose Tavala and cancel. On a Mac, open the App Store, click your name, open Account Settings and manage Subscriptions.
    • Billed through Google Play. Manage opens your Google Play subscriptions page. You can also open the Play Store, tap your profile picture, then Payments & subscriptions, Subscriptions, and choose Tavala.
    • Billed on tavala.io. In the browser app, Manage opens Stripe's billing page in the same tab. There you can cancel, switch between monthly and yearly, update the card and download invoices. On a phone app, Manage opens tavala.io/account, which shows the same routes.
  4. Come back to Settings. The card now says Ends on followed by the date, instead of Renews on.

What happens at the end

  • Until then, nothing changes. You keep every Plus feature to the end of the paid period.
  • A week before, the plan card tells you. It reads "Plus ends on" followed by the date, then "After that the free plan applies; nothing you logged is deleted." Tavala also sends an email.
  • After that, the free limits apply. Nothing is deleted or hidden. Whatever is over a limit stays visible and becomes read-only until you choose what stays or subscribe again:
    • Devices. One device keeps syncing. The others show "Stopped syncing" and are read-only.
    • Spaces. You choose the 2 spaces that stay writable, and only you can add to them. Everyone else in your spaces keeps read access only.
    • Currencies. You choose the 2 currencies that stay in each space. Wallets in the others are read-only.
    • Forecast, reports and debt tools. They return to the free scope.
    • Bank connections. They end. What they imported stays as ordinary entries. See the bank connection add-on.
  • Changes you made offline before the end are still accepted for 72 hours.
  • Subscribing again restores everything at once. See get Tavala Plus.

Good to know

  • Deleting your account does not cancel an App Store or Google Play subscription. Cancel it in the store first. A browser subscription is cancelled for you when you delete your account.
  • Deleting the app does not cancel anything. The subscription belongs to your store account or your Stripe customer.
  • Paying twice. If the plan card warns "You pay for Plus in two places. Cancel one where it is billed.", you subscribed in two places. Cancel the one you do not want.
  • Refunds. For a purchase made in the browser, ask within 14 days of the charge and it is refunded. In the App Store and Google Play, Apple and Google decide. A refund ends the paid features at once.
  • A failed payment. While the store retries, the card says "A payment failed. Plus stays on until" followed by the date. Fix the payment method in the store to keep Plus.
  • Group pass. It is a one-time purchase, not a subscription, so there is nothing to cancel. See the Group pass.
  • Switching between yearly and monthly is done in the same place as cancelling: the store or Stripe's billing page.
