The Group pass

The Group pass opens one space to 6 people for 60 days. It is a single purchase, not a subscription, and it is the free plan's only way to share a space. It suits a trip with friends or a short shared project.

What it covers

The pass is about people. The space's other limits, such as its 2 currencies on the free plan, still follow its owner's plan. See free and Plus compared.

Buy and apply a pass

1. Switch to the space you want to share, then tap its name at the top of Home and choose Manage & share spaces. On an iPad or a Mac with the sidebar, the space name heads the sidebar. See spaces.
2. Tap Create an invite code or Invite by email. These rows are for the space's owner.
3. Because the space is not open to people yet, the sheet Share this space opens. It says "Sharing a space is part of Plus. One subscription covers everyone you invite, and they never pay."
4. Under "A Group pass opens this space to 6 people for 60 days.", tap Buy a Group pass followed by the price, and confirm the store sheet.
5. Tavala opens the space with the pass and says "This space is open to 6 people for 60 days." The Spaces screen now shows "Group pass until" followed by the end date.
6. Invite people as usual. See share a space with someone.

If the purchase went through but Tavala could not apply it, the sheet says "Your Group pass is bought. Open the space with it from Spaces." The Spaces screen then shows a card, "You have a Group pass to use". Open the space you want and tap Open this space with it.

If the claim is refused, the message says why. For example, "This space has already had its Group pass." or "This Group pass is already open in another space."

When the pass ends

• The space returns to its owner's plan. On the free plan, only the owner can add to the space. Everyone else keeps read access. The space shows "On the free plan only the owner adds to this space."
• Nothing is deleted. Every entry stays where it is.
• To keep sharing, the owner gets Tavala Plus, which shares a space with up to 6 people for as long as the subscription runs. See get Tavala Plus.

Good to know

• Not needed with Plus. If you own a space and have Plus, you can already invite people. The Share this space sheet does not open.
• The people you invite never pay. Joining a space is free on every plan.
• On the web, the button is greyed out. The web app does not sell the Group pass. Buy it in the iPhone, iPad, Mac or Android app.
• You need an account. A guest sees "Sharing needs an account" in Spaces. See create an account.
• Refunds for a store purchase are decided by Apple or Google.
