Find your way around the app
Tavala has four tabs, a + button for new entries and a Settings page. Where each one sits on a phone, an iPad, a Mac and the web.

Tavala has four tabs (Home, Budgets, Money and Plan), a + button that starts a new entry from any tab, and a Settings page. The tabs are the same everywhere. Only their position changes with the width of the window.
The four tabs
| Tab | What it holds |

| Home | Overview: the What's Left card, the Money in and Money out chips, your budget, a trip or project, and your bills with Safe to spend. Activity: every entry, with search and filters. |
| Budgets | This week (In, Out and Kept), your Monthly budget, Category budgets, and Trips & projects. |
| Money | Your net worth, and every wallet, savings goal, debt, lending and investment. The + here starts a new wallet, goal, debt or trip. |
| Plan | Cash-flow forecast, Debt payoff and Calculators. |
Tapping the tab you are on returns it to its first page.
Where Settings is
Settings is a page, not a tab:
- On a phone, tap the round person icon at the top right of any tab.
- On an iPad, a Mac or the web, tap or click Settings at the foot of the rail or the sidebar. With a keyboard, press Command-comma (Ctrl-comma on Windows and Android).
Three layouts
The layout follows the width of the window, not the device, so a narrow browser window or a half-screen iPad uses the phone layout.

| 840 points and wider | A sidebar: the space switcher, an Add transaction button, the four tabs, a More group with Reports and Recurring, and at the foot the sync status and Settings. |
From 880 points, Home also shows the Overview and Activity side by side instead of as two views. In a window 840 points or wider, tapping an entry in Activity opens its details beside the list.
Reach Reports and Recurring without a sidebar
On a phone or a rail, these two places sit one step further in:
- Reports: tap Money in or Money out on Home.
- Recurring: SettingsRecurring & bills, or the bills card on Home.
Switch space
Tap the space name at the top of Home (at the top of the sidebar on a wide window). The sheet Your spaces lists your spaces. Manage & share spaces opens the Spaces page. See spaces.

Good to know
- The + is on every tab and opens the capture bar. See add an expense in one line.
- The sync status shows at the foot of the sidebar. On a phone or a rail it is on the account card at the top of Settings.
- A guest sees fewer rows. Without an account there is no Devices row, no plan card and no Danger zone. See use Tavala without an account.
