Sign out
Sign out from Settings. Your data stays in your account and returns when you sign in; this device is cleared. Tavala warns you if changes have not synced.
Signing out removes your account's data from this device and returns Tavala to an empty guest state. The data stays in your account on Tavala's servers and comes back the next time you sign in. If some changes have not synced yet, Tavala says so before it signs you out.
Sign out
- Open Settings. On a phone, tap the round person icon at the top right. On an iPad or a Mac, Settings is at the foot of the rail or the sidebar.
- At the top, the account card shows your email and the sync status. Tap Sign out.
- The Sign out? sheet opens. If everything has synced, it reads "Your data stays in your account and comes back when you sign in." Tap Sign out, or Cancel to stay signed in.
If changes have not synced yet
For a moment the sheet reads "Checking for unsynced changes…" and the confirm button is off. If there are changes waiting to upload, the sheet changes to "3 changes haven't synced yet. Signing out now would delete them from this device." (a single change reads "1 change hasn't synced yet"). You have three choices:
- Wait for sync closes the sheet and leaves you in Settings. The sync line shows the changes uploading. Sign out again once it reads Synced. This button appears only while you are online.
- Sign out anyway signs out and deletes those changes from this device.
- Cancel keeps you signed in.
What signing out does
- The account's data is removed from this device. A fresh guest space starts, with the default categories and no entries.
- Your data in the account is untouched. Sign in again, here or on another device, and it downloads. See sign in on another device.
- These settings are kept on the device only, so they reset: the app lock goes off, the "Confirm it's you before" choices go off, amounts show again if you had hidden them, and bill reminders (notifications) go off. The theme returns to the appearance the guest had.
- The home screen widget is cleared; see add the home screen widget.
- Signing out does not delete the account or cancel Tavala Plus. To remove the account, see delete your account.
Good to know
- If Tavala signs you out by itself, for example after a password change or a session that was revoked, there is no sheet. Changes that were waiting are kept on the device, and Home says "Your session ended before 2 changes could upload. They're saved on this device - sign in again to finish." Tap Sign in. Signing in with the same account uploads them. Signing in with a different account removes them.
- To switch accounts, sign out and sign in with the other one. The device holds one account at a time.
- To change your password, see reset or change your password.
