Ask Tavala a question

Ask Tavala answers questions about your money in your own words: what you spent on groceries last month, what is left until payday, which bills are coming up. The figures come from your entries and are worked out on your device; an AI model writes the sentence around them.

Ask a question

1. Tap the speech bubbles icon at the top of any tab, beside the round person icon. Its label is "Ask Tavala". With a keyboard, press Command-J on a Mac or an iPad, or Ctrl-J elsewhere; on a Mac it is also FileAsk Tavala.
2. The first time, Tavala asks you to turn Ask Tavala on. See what Ask Tavala sends for what that screen says. Tap Turn on. If your device can check it is you, it asks for your face, fingerprint or passcode.
3. Type your question in the field that says "Ask about your money", or tap one of the three suggested questions. Tap the arrow to send.
4. The answer appears as a card under your question: one sentence, then the figures it used.
5. If the answer was built from entries, tap Show the rows to open them.

Good to know

• Ask the next question in the same sheet. A follow-up such as "and the month before?" builds on the answer above it.
• It asks when it is not sure. If two wallets fit, the card offers both as buttons, and nothing happens until you pick one.
• It says no in plain words to things Tavala cannot do, such as sending money to another person.
• Hidden amounts stay hidden. With amounts hidden, the answer shows dots where the figures go.
• It needs a connection and an account. Offline, the sheet says your question was not sent. A guest is offered a free account first.
• How many you can ask. A free account gets one question a day. Tavala Plus answers up to 150 a month; the count starts again on the first of the month. See free and Tavala Plus compared.
• Answers can be wrong. The words are generated by an AI model. If an answer looks off, tap Report this answer: the report stays on this device, and Tavala asks before sending it to support.
