How Tavala updates on iPhone, iPad, Android, Mac and the web, where to see the version you have, and where to read what changed in each release.

Works on iPhone, iPad, Android, Mac and the webUpdated

How Tavala updates depends on the platform. On iPhone and iPad the App Store updates it. On a Mac and on Android, Tavala also shows a bar when a newer version is ready. The browser version always loads the version that is live.

Update by platform

PlatformHow the update reaches you
iPhone and iPadThrough the App Store, like any app. Tavala has no update prompt of its own
MacThrough the Mac App Store. Tavala checks whether a newer version is on sale and shows a bar at most once every 3 days. The bar names the new version, for example "Tavala 1.1.0 is in the App Store.", and has an Update button that opens the Mac App Store page
AndroidThrough Google Play. A routine update downloads in the background. When it is ready, a bar says "Update downloaded - restart to install it." with a Restart button
WebNo update step. Open or reload the page to load the version that is live

The bar on Android

  • It stays until you tap Restart or swipe it away. If you swipe it away, Tavala offers it again the next time you come back to the app.
  • Restart closes and reopens Tavala to finish the install.
  • A release that is marked as urgent, or a phone that is 30 days or more behind, gets Google Play's own full-screen update instead.
  • Tavala asks at most once every 3 days.
  • An app installed from a file instead of from Google Play does not get these updates.

See which version you have

Open Settings and scroll to the foot. The frog is there, and under it a line such as "Tavala 1.0.0 (1)". Support asks for this line first. SettingsAboutContact support opens an email that already carries the version in the subject. See contact support.

On a phone, Settings is the round person icon at the top right. On an iPad or a Mac it is at the foot of the rail or the sidebar.

What changed in a version

Open SettingsAboutWhat's new. A sheet lists each release with its number and date, such as "1.0.0 · 7 Oct 2026", and what changed under it. Tap Done to close it.

  • After an update installs, the sheet opens by itself the first time you reach Home, and shows only the releases you have not seen.
  • A new install, or the first launch after you sign out, does not open it. You can still open it from Settings.
  • The notes are stored inside the app, so they open offline.

Good to know

  • Nothing asks you to update on iPhone and iPad. If an iPhone is on an old version, open the App Store and check for updates there.
