Export a report as CSV or PDF

Tap the share icon on Reports to export the period you are viewing as a CSV spreadsheet or a PDF summary. Free exports this month; Plus exports any period.

Works on iPhone, iPad, Android, Mac and the webUpdated

You can export what Reports shows as a CSV file for a spreadsheet or a PDF summary to print or send. The export is made on your device. Nothing is uploaded.

Export the period you are viewing

  1. Open Reports and choose the period. See Reports for the Month, Year and Range views.
  2. Tap the share icon at the top right (Export).
  3. Choose a format:
    • Export CSV: "Spreadsheet of this month", or of the period's name.
    • Export PDF: "Formatted summary of this month", or of the period's name.
  4. Use the share sheet to save the file, open it in an app or send it. On the web, the file downloads in your browser instead.

If no app can take the file, a message says "No app available to share the report". If the export fails, it says "Could not export the report:" followed by the reason. Try again.

Free plan and Plus

  • Free: the current month, as CSV or PDF. Choosing the export for any other period opens a sheet that says "The free plan exports the current month. Plus exports any period."
  • Plus: any month, a year or a custom range.

In a shared space, the plan of the space's owner decides. Your full data export in Settings has no such limit. See export all your data.

What the CSV contains

The file is named tavala-report-2026-10.csv for a month, tavala-report-2026.csv for a year, and with both dates for a range.

Summary rows at the top:

  • Tavala report and the period
  • Main currency
  • Income and Spending
  • Refunded, only if there were refunds
  • Everyday spending and one row per trip or project, only if a trip or project had spending
  • Net
  • Income/expense transactions, the count

Then one row per entry, with these columns: Date, Type, Category, Wallet, Note, Amount, Currency, Amount (EUR) (in your main currency), To wallet, To amount, Estimated and Trip or project.

  • Amounts are plain numbers, so a spreadsheet can add them up.
  • Amount is in the entry's own currency. Amount (EUR) is the value in your main currency locked at the entry's date, the same value the report uses.
  • Transfers appear with To wallet and To amount filled, and no main-currency amount, so they do not add to your totals.
  • Estimated reads yes for a rough amount.
  • A note, category or wallet name that starts with =, +, - or @ is saved with an apostrophe in front, so a spreadsheet shows it as text instead of running it as a formula.

What the PDF contains

A one-page summary: "Tavala - October 2026", the main currency, Income, Spending, Net (income - spending), a line splitting Spending into Everyday and each trip when a trip had spending, and a Spending by category list with each category's share and amount. It ends with "Generated by Tavala. Transfers between wallets are excluded from income and spending." It does not list individual entries. Use the CSV for those.

Good to know

  • Month in review. Share in the month in review sends that month as a PDF. The review is always of a past month, so on the free plan Share opens the Plus sheet.
  • Files stay on your device until you share them. The app keeps them only as temporary files.
